Lewis Hall Singletary Oncology Center

The Lewis Hall Singletary Oncology Center is a 43,000 square foot comprehensive community cancer center on their main campus in Thomasville, Georgia that serves a ten county area seeing around 800 new cancer patients per year. This state-of-the-art cancer center provides for an integrated model of care where both the radiation and medical oncology treatments are offered in a single facility. The program operates a network of community based clinics, and is an America College of Surgeon's Commission of Cancer Accredited program. The oncology practice consists of five employed medical oncologists and two independent radiation oncologists. The center performs around 35,600 medical oncology treatments/procedures per year, 15,200 radiation therapy treatments/procedures per year, and treats around 1,360 non cancer ambulatory infusion patients per year.

The radiation oncology program utilizes a Varian Trilogy, Varian 21ex, Electa Gamma Knife, GE 16 Slice CT Simulator, and Nucletron HDR as well as provides various brachytherapy, prostate seed implants and mammosite services. The medical oncology services include an on-site pharmacy and twenty two infusion chairs (five private). They currently use the NextGen System, but will be implementing a new oncology information system by late spring 2015.

The Gamma Knife Center at Archbold remains the only one of its kind south of Atlanta, and in Florida's Big Bend region. The impact of the Center and its non-invasive precision radiosurgery are starkly evident, having treated over 600 patients--from 45 different counties in Georgia, Florida and Alabama. In addition, Archbold physicians were recently recognized as the first in the state and second worldwide to revolutionize surgical treatment for lung cancer using mesh brachytherapy and the daVinci Robot.

Hailed as the New Home for Hope, the new Lewis Hall Singletary Oncology Center houses technology and amenities virtually nonexistent in the region, and exceptionally rare in any community, let alone Thomasville. New physicians, new treatment technology and new programs for research and patient support allow the Center to bring cancer patients the most promising approaches to cancer prevention, diagnosis and treatment. But what makes the Center special isn't limited to new technology. Upon entering, one aspect is very clear--the comfort and well-being of patients and caregivers were clearly in mind during the strategic planning and construction of the building.
